Bullet For My Valentine release Social Apocalypse. Their first single in four years

On September 24, Bullet For My Valentine released the single Social Apocalypse and its video. It is the title track of their eighth album, due March 19, 2027, on Spinefarm. This is the band’s first new song in four years. The last single was Omen. The seventh album, the self-titled one, came out six years ago. Chris Wade of Dogbrain Videos directed, shot, and edited the clip. Yossip made the single art.

The announcement frames the track as the end of the world as we know it, at the point where all hope has faded. Matt Tuck says that is how he has been watching things for the last year or two.

“The world is being taken over and dominated by tech and media. Social media in general is an unstoppable force which has massive impacts on people’s lives, good and negative. There’s two sides to that world, and obviously we’ve tapped into the more negative side of it. The song’s about a social apocalypse where people aren’t really interacting anymore in the way they should. That’s causing division and hatred and fear and scaremongering.”

The album has ten songs. Guests are rare for Bullet. There are two here: Chrissy Costanza of Against The Current duets on In The Absence Of You, and Lorna Shore’s Will Ramos appears on I Don’t Trust Tomorrow. The rest of the record is Here Without You, Acid Rain, Fragile, CVLT, Masquerade, Read Between The Lines, and Enough Is Never Enough.

Carl Bown produces again. This is his fourth Bullet album. They recorded at his Treehouse Studios in Chesterfield, a small outbuilding at his house, and at Metropolis in London, a ten-minute walk from Tuck’s place. Tuck says Bown does not let them settle. He pushes for the best version of the song. After the anniversary tour for The Poison, the band talked about nodding to that era. Once writing started, the songs went somewhere else. Tuck says those days are gone: they did not force anything on The Poison either, and it is still better to follow the same compass.

The Social Apocalypse tour is 24 arena shows across Europe and the UK, from January 21, 2027, in Lisbon through February 27 in Manchester. Pendulum are the special guest on every date. Dark Divine open. London’s The O2 is February 26. Last time that room sold out on a co-headline with Trivium. This time Bullet are the only headliner. Tuck calls that earlier O2 show the best the band has played in 20 years, and says the return lands pretty much two years to the day. General tickets go on sale September 30 at 9:00 a.m. local time. The wider album presale, including vinyl and a signed CD, opens September 28.
