P.O.D. release Outbreak with Cory Brandan. The first single from their twelfth album
On September 30, P.O.D. released the single Outbreak and its video. It is the first song from their twelfth album, and their first new studio music since Veritas, the eleventh record, which came out in May 2024 on Mascot. The new album has no title and no street date. Cory Brandan of Norma Jean sings on the track. The two bands toured the U.S. together in 2024. JT Ibanez, who has directed videos for Atreyu and Sevendust, shot the zombie clip.
“This is possibly one of the heaviest songs P.O.D. has ever written, so we wanted to showcase a guest vocalist who reflected that. Cory’s voice and tone bring a specific intensity and command that draws you in. Our voices together deliver an authoritative energy that matches the power of the song.”
Sonny Sandoval
Guitarist Marcos Curiel sent the rough demo. The working title was already Outbreak. Sandoval texted him immediately to say he loved it, and he kept the name: the riff and the warning sample felt frantic and apocalyptic. That became the lyric.
“As avid fans of zombie apocalypse, video games, and movies, it seemed only fitting to compose a song about this topic. The song delicately straddles the line between nonfiction and fiction. It’s fun yet hard-hitting, bridging the gap between what’s real and what’s not.”

Bassist Traa Daniels says the track is built for a crowd. The apocalyptic tone and the zombie theme sit close to things happening now. He calls it one of his all-time favorites, and a fun one to record.
They made the album with Will Yip, the producer behind Turnstile and Code Orange, at his Memory Music Studios in South Philadelphia. It is the first full P.O.D. album recorded outside California. Curiel has said they started writing in October and tracked vocals, guitars, bass, and drums in about 12 days: 13 or 14 songs. He describes the record as an extension of Veritas, not a break from it. He had hoped to put a single out in August. It arrived on September 30.
