Foo Fighters play rarities with the LA Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl

On August 22, Foo Fighters took the Hollywood Bowl stage with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Youth Orchestra Los Angeles. Gustavo Dudamel conducted the set as a send-off after 17 years with the orchestra. He is moving on to the New York Philharmonic.

The 15-song set mixed staples — All My Life, The Pretender, Learn to Fly, Best of You, Everlong — with songs the band almost never plays live. I Should Have Known came out for the first time since 2012. Razor, from In Your Honor, had not been played since 2006. Home, from Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace, was essentially its first public airing since 2007, aside from a VR show in 2022.

They dedicated Aurora to Taylor Hawkins. The night closed with Everlong and fireworks over the Bowl. Grohl had already played with Dudamel and the orchestra at Coachella 2025 — just The Sky Is a Neighborhood and Everlong. This time it was a full Foo Fighters set, not a cameo.

Next: September 4 at Rock in Rio, then a one-night opening slot for AC/DC in St. Louis on September 8. Grohl called it “literally a dream come true”: “If you want blood… you've got it. Let there be fucking rock, St. Louis.” The band’s own Take Cover Tour picks up again in mid-September.
