Butcher Babies announce new album Nightbloom, drop “Blame It On The Wind” video

Butcher Babies have announced their sixth studio album, Nightbloom, due October 2 via Judge & Jury Records. With the title comes a new live-action video for the latest single, Blame It On The Wind.

It is the follow-up to 2023’s double album Eye For An Eye… / …’Til The World’s Blind, the band’s first release on Judge & Jury — the label co-founded by producer Howard Benson and Three Days Grace drummer Neil Sanderson — and their first studio album without founding co-vocalist Carla Harvey, who left in 2024.

Benson produced the record with Joe Rickard, Sanderson and Butcher Babies guitarist Henry Flury. Frontwoman Heidi Shepherd directed the new clip, shot at Castle of Bathory in Las Vegas. An animated version of the song landed in June; this one puts Shepherd, Flury and bassist Sean Violet on camera. The track is already picking up rock radio, including SiriusXM Octane.

“This new album isn’t about the suffering; it’s about the survival. These songs were born from memories of heartbreak, uncertainty, betrayal, and pain. But they’re more about what grew because of them. Not everything beautiful needs perfect sunshine to flourish.”

Shepherd says the songs came after she shut off social media and started therapy for the first time. Over a year, suppressed memories surfaced — divorce, loss, religion, the end of a 20-year friendship. Writing them down, she says, is what finally let her bloom in the dark. That idea gives the album its name.

“Writing with purpose. That was the overall theme of this album. Each part, layer, lyric was crafted with purpose and focus. Nightbloom is our most important work we’ve ever done in Butcher Babies.”
